Doug worked for ten years as a power plant operator, after which he worked for about five years as a Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector with Alberta Labour Boilers Branch (now ABSA). He recently left SAIT after a twenty-two year career in the Power Engineering and Energy Departments, during which he was an instructor in many programs and, for several years, a program coordinator in the Distance Education area.
His qualifications include a First Class Power Engineering Certificate and a Journeyman Millwright Certificate. He is a Certified Engineering Technologist (Power Plant) and a member of the Institute of Power Engineers.
