Natural Gas Processing (NGP), CMDS e-Learning Course
The Natural Gas Processing (NGP) course was developed to provide a basic understanding of the equipment, process and operations involved in a natural gas processing facility. The objective of the NGP course, is to provide workers in the natural gas processing industry with the knowledge needed to safely operate gas processing equipment.
It is important to note that the Natural Processing course does not provide external certification, but it is offered at no additional cost to current CMDS users. It can be accessed through the CMDS eLearning library under the headings NGP I, NGP II, and NGP III.
The course follows the current CMDS eLearning format, which includes the module material followed by a module quiz. In total, the course consists of 75 module quizzes. Module materials include both content and learning aids such as: diagrams, tables, process flows and sample calculations with step-by-step answers.
The course is provided in three sections;
- NGP I – Safety and Basics: safety, drawings and maps, piping and valves, and gas processing overview.
- NGP II – Equipment: instrumentation, pumps, compressors, engines and lubrication.
- NGP III – Process: heating systems, instrument systems, gas sweetening, refrigeration, dehydration, fractionation, sulphur recovery, corrosion and cleaning.
Employee Progression and Development
If your field or facility has incorporated gas processing training modules into its employee development or progression systems you can indicate completion of the NGP sections in CMDS by using the "NGP Section Competencies". A profile has been created in CMDS titled "CMDS NGP Competency Profile", containing three individual competencies, each of which corresponds to an NGP section.
If you would like more information or details, please contact your CMDS administrator or account manager.
